AST Field Day June 2009

On Saturday, June 6, 2009 Youth Tennis San Diego celebrated our 19th year of the After School Tennis Program.  We had over 100 AST children from throughout San Diego County join us in the fun.  Children spent the day rotating from court to court, participating in a variety of tennis drills and games.  Pizza and snow cones were served for lunch, and every child left the Barnes Tennis Center with their pockets filled with prizes!

Not only did we have a great turn out of AST players, but we had an amazing turn out of volunteers.  We had over 40 volunteers help us with this event!  Volunteers spent their day on the court with the children, instructing and participating in the tennis drills and games.  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the day.  We couldn't have done it without you!. 

Mark your calendars for the next After School Tennis Event occurring on Saturday, September 26, 2009.  Youth Tennis San Diego will host our annual After School Tennis Half-Day Camp.  This will be our kick off celebration for the new 2009-2010 school year.  All children are welcome to join the fun!

AST Team Tennis event March 2009

After School Tennis (AST) had a record turnout  with over 100 players and coaches in attendance for our Team Tennis event held on March 7, 2009.  This special event was sponsored by Youth Tennis San Diego (YTSD) and held at the Barnes Tennis Center.  This event gave AST children the opportunity to experience tennis as part of a team representing their school.  Players accumulated points for their team by participating in singles and doubles matches.  Every court was filled with cheers and high-fives as junior players cheered on their teammates.  Medals were presented at the end of the day to first and second place teams in each age division.
